Vacancy on the Maricopa County Special Health Care District Board of Directors
PHOENIX (May 2, 2012) - The resignation of Maricopa County Special Health Care District Board Member, Greg Patterson, has left a vacancy on the public board that oversees Arizona’s only public health system.
"We are grateful for Greg's excellent service and his many contributions to our health care system," said Board Chairman, Elbert Bicknell. "We wish him well in his new role as a member of the Arizona Board of Regents."
Applicants for appointment to fill Director Patterson’s District 2 seat are asked to complete an application and return it with a resume no later than 5:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 17, 2012. The successful applicant will be appointed by the Special Health Care District Board of Directors and will complete the remaining term vacated by Director Patterson. Once appointed, the new District 2 Board Member will serve from the time of appointment until the official canvass of the November 6, 2012 General Election. District 2 serves the East Valley cities of Fountain Hills, Carefree, Cave Creek, Gilbert, Mesa, Paradise Valley and Scottsdale.
Applicants must:
- Be a qualified elector and reside in the district.
- Not be an elected or appointed state or county official or a person who serves on a hospital board, and not a member of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.
- Not be an employee of the Special Health Care District or a director, officer or employee of another health care institution.

The Maricopa County Special Health District Board of Directors oversees Arizona’s only public health system, which includes the Maricopa Medical Center, the Arizona Burn Center, the Arizona Children’s Center, two psychiatric hospitals and a network of community health centers in Maricopa County.
