Laura Don, M.D.

Laura Don, M.D., Director of Behavioral Health Services at MHCC graduated from the University of Witwatersrand Medical School in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1990 and did her psychiatry residency at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. She has served as Senior Medical Officer for the Department of Neurology at Groote Schuur Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at the Red Cross War Hospital for Children, both in Cape Town, South Africa. Following the completion of her psychiatry residency in 1997, she joined the staff at MHCC as a Clinical Psychiatrist (8 years). She also has a private forensic psychiatric practice, consulting in a wide range of medico-legal matters. She is certified as a Diplomate in Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a frequently invited speaker on the issues of behavioral health in the HIV+ population and is a respected expert in the field.
